My name is Donna Harris. I joined Advent in 2009. Currently, I am a member of the Evangelism Empowerment Team. I served on the church council in 2012 through 2014. I enjoy taking pictures at church events, keeping the church directory updated, and coordinating the Community Dinners at Advent once a month.
I am the musical director and organist at Advent Lutheran Church. I have been here for many years and hope to play beautiful music for many more.
My husband, young son and I took a leap of faith and uprooted our family from San Diego to Denver in 2014. In Jan 2019, after three years of staying home with young kids, I was hired on as the Office Manager and Finance Assistant here at Advent. I love that Advent is a small church with a big heart. The people who are involved at Advent are the reason I love coming every day. Outside of work, I love to play with my two kids, watch Football on Sundays and cook up a storm!
Our family moved from Minnesota in 1963 and joined Advent within the first few months of settling in Westminster. The kids were enroleed in Sunday School and confirmation classes as they became eligible. I taught Sunday School classes during this time and later was asked to be coordinator for the Sunday School. When the kids left "the nest", I served on a call committee and later as Council secretary for a while. Following a forty year career at CU Boulder's library, the Church assembly in Denver gave me the first real opportunity to participate in a larger church. Since then, Advent has provided many opportunities to take on projects, committees or needs that have been both interesting and challenging. It is a privilege to serve as long as God has a job for me here.
