Advent Lutheran Church

The Advent Radio Players continued their very special unique ministry which began in the spring of 2012, with another highly successful year in 2025!  Two wonderful old time radio plays were performed live to large enthusiastic audiences as well as being live streamed.

In 2025 two old time radio comedies were presented in the spring and two very dramatic programs in the fall.  The spring production was two comedies, “Easter Hat War Council” from a George Burns and Gracie Allen show originally broadcast in 1947 and “Mrs. Davis’s Millinery” from an Our Miss Brooks program originally broadcast in 1951.  The fall production was two dramatic programs, “Little Old Lady” from the Lights Out Series originally broadcast in 1943 and “The Dead Laugh,” an Inner Sanctum episode that originally aired in 1946.

These radio plays were performed live using original scripts of the old-time radio shows just like they were when they were originally broadcast.  Stand-up microphones, on the air and applause lights, sound effects and commercials from the original programs enabled the audience to feel like they were the original studio audience when the programs were broadcast so many years ago!

The Ministry of the Advent Radio Players continues to promote Advent Lutheran Church with these performances by providing wholesome family entertainment to Advent members and the entire community.  Several Advent members in the cast are engaged in a very fun and highly rewarding activity!

The Advent Radio Players look forward to continuing their special unique ministry in 2026 by performing two shows as is their tradition, one in the spring and another in the fall.  Radio WABB continues to be very much alive and “On the Air!” at Advent Lutheran Church!

Our Spring Radio Play will be on Sunday May 3, 2026 at 2:00pm in the Sanctuary.  Mark your calendar now!  We will be doing a classic mystery suspense drama which should be lots of fun! Actors are needed!  The play will be announced and scripts made available on Sunday, March 22nd with tryouts on Sunday, March 29th.  Rehearsals will be every Sunday in April, except on Easter Sunday, April 5th.  Let Denny know of your interest and availability to act in the Advent Spring Radio Play!  Thank you!  DennyT49@aol.com.
